About

Our understanding of architectural movements, the mechanisms of urban renewal throughout history, and the ways in which cultural customs and social behaviors have adapted to the spatial transformations introduced by architecture remains limited. The absence of consistent architectural documentation and written records across different eras has made it difficult to trace these processes in detail.

Tehran, Number by Number began its media and research activities in 2015 (1394), with the goal of introducing Tehran’s architecture and reinterpreting the city’s urban architectural history. The group’s visual archive, however, dates back to 2008 (1387), marking the beginning of a long-term effort to collect, document, and interpret the architectural identity of Tehran.
