World Art Deco Day 2026: Celebrating the Octagon in Tehran’s Art Deco Architecture

With a delay shaped by the circumstances of recent months, we join the global celebration of World Art Deco Day.
The 2026 theme selected by the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies is:“Art Deco Shape Hunt 

The Octagon”Following the 1925 Paris Exposition, the octagon became one of Art Deco’s defining visual forms, appearing in façades, windows, decorative details, and designed objects around the world.This geometry is also present in Tehran. Among the 101 buildings featured in the Tehran Art Deco Map, eight contain octagonal elements within their architectural composition.We hope for days when culture, art, and humanity become a shared language across the world — days of peace, safety, and understanding that allow us to reconnect with our cities and their heritage.
